Retaliator
History
English, Norfolk based Oi! punk band was formed in 1996. The band played a few gigs before getting a support slot with Braindance and The Exploited in Norwich,and from then onwards they started to build up some sort of reputation with regular gigging. At this point the band were offered a single deal with Data Records from Coventry,which resulted in the Feel The Power EP. Since then Retaliator have gone from strength to strength, releasing two albums on Pure Impact Records and appearing on several compilation LP’s.
The bands that Retaliator have shared a bill with include The Exploited, Braindance, Mata Ratos, On File, Hotwired, Baker’s Dozen, Resistance 77, The Mighty Dogs, Convicted, Warboots, Section 5, Skinful, Skinflicks, Evil Conduct, and Condemned 84.
Retaliator take their influences from Oi! and RAC bands from the 1980’s along with a few metal bands. Whilst being fiercely patriotic they are not a political band but still play under the banner – Oi! Aint Red! Saying the whole SHARP ideal is a load of bullshit and lucky it’s long gone.
The line up was Ian on vocals, Mark and Rob on guitar, Pete on bass and Mark on drums in 2001 to record the Against The Grain CD and by 2004 the band was Ian on vocals, John on guitar, Pete on bass and Mark on drums.
Retaliator dissolved in December 2008 when the line up was With Ian on vocals, Pete, Ciaran and Steve on guitars, Mark on drums. Ian helping out the Oi! band Loyalty. Pete has a new project with Infa Riots Barry Damery named Balefire. Ciaran & Steve created a new band, The London Diehards with Tel and Cherry of the East End Badoes and Mark the drummer now plays with Condemned 84.
As of January 2011 the band are reformed with an old line up. The same one that recorded Patriotic Alcoholics album. With Ian on vocals, Pete on bass, Mark on drums and Baysey on guitar.
